Gaëtanne Sylvester, artiste multi-media, s’inspire du genome, la fertilité, la femininité dans sa pratique artistique et ce qu’elle observe dans ses alentours quotidiens tout en s’impliquant dans la communauté. Elle est membre de la MDA, MAWA, MCC, MPA, et le comité Wendy Wersch Memorial.
Dernièrement, elle participe à In The Box/Dans la boîte, concours sélectionné national à The Rooms, St John’s Newfoundland, commissaire Denis Longchamps et elle présente un duo au Mennonite Heritage Centre, Metaphors in Cloth and Clay en 2013 ainsi que Saves Nine exposition sélectionée à Ace Art 2014 elle est inclue dans Roche Papier Ciseaux a la MDA commissaire, Eric Lesage et l’exposition selectionee du conseil des Metiers du Manitoba a Stonewall Heritage Center intitule Backspace Forward. Et encore dernierement, Neurocraft, commissaire Seema Goel, collaboration entre neuf scientist et neuf artisan du Conseil des metiers du Manitoba.

Born in Morris, Manitoba, Gaëtanne has lived in Montreal, Kitchener, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Calgary, making thirteen inter-provincial moves before coming back to Winnipeg after graduating from University of Waterloo with a BFA in 1990. She has been an active member of the art community, teaching, serving on boards and maintaining a studio in the Exchange District.
Working primarily in clay, digital prints and mixed media installations, she has exhibited across Canada, and abroad. She has presented several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous juried and group exhibitions. Gaëtanne also participated in a printmaking residency at Graff, in Montreal, 2005, and at Centre Sagamie, Alma, Québec, 2006. In 2007, her work was shown in a duo exhibition, Sparks and Whisperings at Maison des artistes, Treasures from the Collection, Buhler Gallery, Saint Boniface Hospital, and in a group exhibition at the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec in Montreal, Rencontres:Encounters. She was a mentor for Manitoba Craft Council in partnership with Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art in 2010/1011. She was included in the national exhibition Boxed In, curated by Denis Longchamps, at the Rooms Provincial Art Gallery and the Gallery of the Craft Council of Newfoundland & Labrador In St John’s, and was part a duo exhibition Metaphors in Cloth and Clay at the Mennonite Heritage Gallery in Winnipeg, MB. In 2013, she was included in a conceptual craft group exhibition, Saves Nine, at Ace Art, curated by Kerri-Lynn Reeves and, most recently, she was included in the Manitoba Craft Council Juried Exhibition Backspace Forward and Roche, Papier, Sciseaux at Maison des Artistes, curator Eric Lesage.
